Listening Assignment 10/9/2017

This is the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K 467, played by Murray Perahia. A concerto is a piece of music where a solo is accompanied by orchestra. This orchestra is pretty small but that’s typical with performances of Mozart’s concertos. Wouldn’t it be fun to conduct and play the piano simultaneously like Perahia?

Listening Assignment 4/6/2015

Since I didn’t post an assignment last week, I’ll post two this week and you can get points for listening to both!

In honor of spring, here is Au Bord d’une Source (which translates into something like Whisperings of Spring), performed by the famous Horowitz:

And on the lighter side, here is a video of LDS musician Marvin Goldstein performing a medley (an arrangement of a few different songs) of Primary songs. Which songs does he put together?

Listening Assignment 3/23/2015

This week the assignment is kind of advertising for my husband. On Thursday, Curtis will be performing in his graduate recital! It is at 7:30pm in Sprague recital hall. He’s playing three numbers which are accompanied by piano. We’d love to see you all there if you can make it! (And I’ll give you a hundred points for it ;)) If you can’t make it you can listen to the live stream, available here: http://music.yale.edu/livestream/privatestream/ (but that doesn’t count for 100 points)
